Crafting deliverables & interfaces that are both usable and beautiful
From pixel-perfect personas to impeccably immaculate interfaces, I take pride in my ability to produce deliverables of the highest visual standards.
As a Lead UX Design Immersive Instructor at General Assembly, I’ve promoted the development of the Visual Design and UI skills of hundreds of students. Beyond basics such as colour, typography and Gestalt principles - I help them to hone their design instincts, and to understand the wider contexts in which they create.
While I haven’t been formally trained as a graphic designer, my years of experience developing and designing digital products allows me to guide trainees through applying principles of effective UI design, critiquing and supporting them as they learn to bring their visuals to life.
I’m lucky to have had the opportunity to work with and refine a variety of design systems
Thanks in particular to several years spent contracting, I’ve worked with design systems of varying levels of sophistication in a number of organisations. In these environments, you’re often required to hit the ground running and work efficiently to make the most of existing assets - though I would always endeavour to make my own meaningful contributions and leave the state of design better off than when I arrived!
Working collaboratively with other creative disciplines enables me to achieve greater results than I could alone
I’m not afraid to try my hand at other disciplines myself, but I love to work alongside specialists such as videographers, illustrators, print designers, front-end developers, motion designers and more, as well as other UX/UI/Product folks or visual specialists.
I believe that a good user experience and a compelling visual design are often inextricably linked
UX is my passion. I consider my first responsibility to be to engagement, to the user - satisfying their needs and solving their problems in order to meet business objectives. At the same time, aesthetic appeal is frequently a user need in itself - indeed, in some cases, the highest one. With that in mind, I’ll always do my best to craft deliverables & interfaces that are both usable and beautiful.
I’m always looking to create, discover and learn more
Hopefully this has given you a sense of my passion and capabilities. If you like what you see - why not get in touch, and who knows what could take off?
